The New Bedford Whaling Museum will be aglow on the last night of the year, transformed into a museum of music to ring in the new decade with the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, on Friday, December 31 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The gala event, New Year’s Swingin’ Eve, will fill the halls of the museum with music for everyone. Guests can dance to a swinging jazz quartet, listen to a classical trio, enjoy some rock ‘n roll – or do all three.
Russell Morin Fine Caterers will provide a festive smorgasbord of petit open-face sandwiches, Swedish meatballs, a sumptuous assortment of hors d’oeuvres, seasonal pasta, and a delicately sweet array of petit pastries – served with freshly brewed Colombian coffee, decaf, gourmet teas and a cash bar. At 8:30 p.m., guests will view the city’s fireworks display from inside the Museum’s newly restored Bourne Building.
The evening will include the drawing of the Whaling Museum’s grand prize raffle: A seven-night cruise to Bermuda for two aboard the Celebrity Summit®, the pinnacle of elegant cruising – with concierge class veranda stateroom – sailing roundtrip from Port Liberty, New Jersey on June 5, 2011. Raffle tickets are $100 each, and limited to 100; giving participants a great chance to win this exciting vacation donated by Cruise Holidays of Lakeville, MA.
Proceeds of New Year’s Swingin’ Eve will support the educational programs of the orchestra and the museum. Tickets: $50 per person. Call Alison Smart: (508) 997-0046 ext. 115. email@example.com
