On Saturday, November 6 the USS Constitution Model Shipwright Guild exhibits more than 50 exquisitely detailed vessels in the Jacobs Family Gallery with an opening and public reception at 3:00 p.m. The exhibition titled “Down to the Sea in Model Ships” will be on display, November 6-28 and will also include the work of some local model makers.
Tom Lauria, Captain of the Guild, is equally energized about an association with the Whaling Museum. “On behalf of the USS Constitution Model Shipwright Guild, I can tell you how excited we all are about this show. We at the Guild hope this is just the beginning of a long and mutually beneficial relationship between your wonderful institution and our group.”
Youth (8-12 yrs.) and Teen (13-17 yrs.) model-makers are also encouraged to enter their models in a contest for a chance to win a cash prize. For contest rules and entry form, contact Brian Witkowski: (508) 997-0046, ext. 185, or firstname.lastname@example.org
A forum will be held at 4:00 p.m. in conjunction with the opening in the Museum’s Cook Memorial Theater. Modelers will discuss their work.
